AIR CANADA INTERVIEW WITH ALEXANDER CARSON

ncc — Wed, 09 Oct 2013 17:25:27 +0000

Air Canada’s En Route Film Festival team sat down with Alexander Carson at his home in Toronto earlier this year to catch up on filmmaking following his win at the festival in 2012. Being a part of the Air Canada En Route Film Festival was huge for extending the exposure of Alexander’s 2011 film “We Refuse To Be Cold” beyond traditional festival venues. Good luck to all the filmmakers competing in the festival this year!

We are proud to announce that Alexander Carson is the recipient of the Achievement in Direction Award at this year’s Air Canada En Route Film Festival! This is a very rewarding way to wind down a hugely successful festival run for “We Refuse To Be Cold”, which has now screened at nearly 15 festivals across Canada, the United States, and Europe. The Award comes with an all-inclusive trip to the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival 2013 courtesy of Air Canada, and a generous cash prize sponsored by the Directors Guild of Canada.

Many thanks to everyone who worked on the film and supported us along the way, especially Amanda M. Weightman and Joseph Baron, without whom this project would never have existed. We’re also very grateful to Air Canada, Spafax, the DGC, and the festival jury for their support and recognition. The finalist’s screening at the Varsity Cinema in Toronto was packed–thank you to everyone who came out to see the film! And the awards party at Panorama Lounge was beautifully done. A great night overall, very inspiring!
